Church Security 202
“Dealing with the Threat ”
Down through the years we have trained hundreds of
churches in the basics of church security; Policies and Procedures,
Security Teams, Security systems, video surveillance, etc. (i.e. Church
Security 101).
While there are various mental attributes that make a good
security person; alert, assertive and compassionate among them, there is
also a physical aspect that we cannot ignore. Those charged with
the protection of the innocent are also responsible to act to prevent
harm. Immediate intervention might save lives.
As
much as we don’t like to think about physical altercations or violence,
we would be remiss in not training for time when force on force might be
unavoidable. The two obvious avenues are those of “close quarters
hand-to-hand tactics” and “firearms.” Yes, Kung-fu and Ca-Pow.
The preferred “Best Practices” are that the church hire
professional security or law enforcement for its intervention capable
personnel, however some churches want to develop their own Security Team
made up of volunteers.
We are repeatedly asked; “Where do we get the physical
training? Who will teach us the right and legally defensible tactics?
What will our insurance company support?
We asked - What is really needed? What is the right
training and legally defensible?
Defensive Tactics – Pressure Point Control Tactics

PPCT specializes in developing use of force training that
meets the multiple needs of administrators, trainers and practitioners.
PPCT's methodology of conducting documented tactical, legal and medical
research has made it a leader in its field and is the primary reason why
the training is recognized to be effective in the field and defensible
in the courtroom. This course is designed to teach defensive tactics
students to use the PPCT Defensive Tactics System. Students will learn
how to take immediate control of a subject and apply other defensive
tactics techniques, such as handcuffing and weapon retention.
Firearm Skill drills –
Training drills that focus on the improvement of a
student’s speed, accuracy, and decision making skills. Each drill allows
an instructor to tailor every training session to individual skill
levels from beginner to expert using adjustable setting such as the
number of targets, target face time and target speed. Developed with the
direct input from active Military and Law Enforcement instructors.
Judgmental Training –
Branching Video takes video training to the next level.
Students train using video scenarios that react to trainee actions. Each
scenario leads down a branch to several possible outcomes beginning from
one main scene. Branches are invoked via trainer-operated hot-keys
and/or trainee shots.
NOCSSM utilizes simulator systems from Laser Shot, who is
the global leader in firearm and force option training solutions.
Innovative products incorporate the latest technologies in developing
accurate, dependable, and effective use of firearms by military, law
enforcement, and other public safety and security professionals. Laser
Shot training solutions are employed by thousands of military and law
enforcement agencies around the world every day.
Space is limited and liability release required.
The disciplines taught in these courses are very
physically demanding and should only be considered by those individuals
that are physically able withstand the rigors of martial arts training.
